Singapore Fact of the Day: In honor of my favorite Singaporean dish, carrot cake, here is a recipe for a dish! https://leitesculinaria.com/80521/recipes-singapore-carrot-cake.html
I can't believe I am on the second to last day of our trip. This entire abroad experience has been so incredible. We were so fortunate that we were able to check out so many different kinds of design and animation firms, and today we got to see even more. Our first stop was the FZD School of Design. While it sounds like a graphic design school, it's actually solely a concept art school. The entire school takes just a year to complete, and it cycles out incredible artists. They go on to work for incredible companies around the world, in both video games and movies. Their program is rigorous and very difficult, but their graduates have about an 86%+ chance of getting a job in the industry after they graduate. That is one of the highest percentages for job assurances I've ever seen in my life for a school, yet alone one in the same industry that I am studying to get into! It was quite remarkable, and their school seems really amazing. If you want to pursue a degree in concept art, this school might be for you!
In between our trips from the design firms, we saw some interesting temples and sightseeing along the way!
We also stopped for food on our way. I got to try one of my favorite dishes from the trip one last time - CARROT CAKE!
Our second to last stop of the day was The Bureau, a design firm/conglomerate of designers. The care they put into each of their products and ideas was quite astounding. And their space was beautiful!
While I don't understand design as much as most of the people on our trip, I certainly have a respect for it, and it was really neat to hear the thought process behind all of their products!
Our last stop took over an hour to get to, as it was on the outskirts of the city, but it was our last firm visit, so it would be worth it! They were called Genesis, and they were a brand new motion graphics studio. They had been open less than 5 years, and they were in the process of moving to a bigger studio (so not many cool, pictures unfortunately). While their presentation was lacking, their work shone on its own. It was also neat because they were all very young, and they probably brought a fresh perspective into the industry because of that.
It was a long day of travelling to different parts of the city, but all three visits were really neat and worth checking out. I was exhausted at the end of the day. I can't believe this trip is almost over, but we still have one more day left! I'm going to try and enjoy it as much as I can before we all have to say goodbye to Singapore (for now)!
